Do you fancy a night of totally heavy, experimental, psych and gothic rock and post punk? That a bit of a silly question, isn’t it? Who wouldn’t want to spend a Saturday night in the presence of some of the region’s best rising post rock bands? As ever, the place to be for some scuzzy, DIY noise is the Nerd Hutch, where the duo behind Massa Confusa are bringing together a bunch of the north east’s best emerging talents.

Heading up the line-up are Newcastle’s own Knots, who describe their sound as “neo post math rock.” Expect taut lyrical delivery, distinctive rhythms and ferocious riffs. Three-piece Ilser are gearing up their slot at the Tanners for Evolution Emerging with this final show before the event.  With their harsher, more riff-heavy take on goth-rock and some menacing, slow-burning songs, they’ve placed themselves firmly as ones to watch on the local rock scene. Massa Confusa themselves will also be playing the event, bringing their tight post-punk vibes and highly intelligent songwriting. Rounding off the bill is Sagan Megadrive, the project of epic guitar player and all-round psych-rock experimentalist Chris Minnis.

Knots, Ilser, Massa Confusa and Sagan Megadrive will play at the Nerd Hutch, Newcastle on Saturday 9th May.
