It’s always nice to see a musician’s hard work finally come to fruition. Kiran Leonard has been firing out music under his own steam for years, self-releasing three albums since 2014.

The 22-year old musician is finally reaping the benefits thanks to the release of his fourth album, Western Culture. Paralyse Force, from this latest album, fits in well with Leonard’s chaotic musical style – too heavy to be indie folk but not quite heavy enough to be folk rock. His unusual vocals have the potential to be grating, but they’re so well controlled that it ends up being nothing but earthy and organic. His sound is much more accomplished with this record too, but that may well be down to it being his first LP to be recorded in a professional studio, as well as it being the first to feature his esteemed live band.

If you thought that was quite a few ‘firsts’ for Kiran Leonard’s musical career, you should know he  isn’t quite done with this trend yet. He’s announced his first live shows in two years backed by his full band, one of which takes place at the Green Room, Stockton on Saturday 27th October. If it’s your first time encountering him, we’re certain it won’t be your last.
