The dark, baroque pop of Kingsley Chapman & The Murder has utterly exploded over the last twelve months. Inventive, inspired and utterly unique, each new release is eagerly anticipated; new song The Children Scream was no different and it’s available now through Soundcloud, here. The track features delicate, yet atmospheric musical backdrops and Kingsley Chapman’s trademark yearning vocals; and should be a perfect enticement to their performance at Northern Stage, (as part of NARC’s 10th Birthday celebrations, read more about it here) on Friday 15th April.

One of the North East’s most creative songwriters, Kingsley Chapman showcases all of that on The Children Scream, drawing influence from so many avenues of artistry, it sees the band pushing further with their captivating instrumentals and tortured yet alluring vocals. For an artist to call on influences as diverse as David Lynch and West Side Story, and be adept enough to try to figure out his place in the world, and the world’s place on everything else in the aftermath of the Paris attacks takes immense maturity as a musician and songwriter, and comes together in a hauntingly beautiful piece of music.

Kingsley Chapman & The Murder release The Children Scream now through their Soundcloud page, and they play Northern Stage, Newcastle on Friday 15th April.
