It’s been ten years since Kendal Calling first brought some of the world’s biggest acts to the Lake District, so the organisers of the festival are now celebrating by announcing perhaps one of their best lineups of the decade. The weekend, which takes place between Thursday 30th July and Sunday 2nd August, will be playing host to a diverse set of acts ranging from tender indie to classic hip hop, with everything in-between.

Manchester indie-rock legends Elbow are set to headline the main stage in a northern festival exclusive. The beloved band are known for their spectacular festival performances and has seen them rise to become the nation’s favourite arena-filling sweethearts. Their tender and lyrically complex tales of love and wonder are sure to sit perfectly among the Lake District’s landscape.

On the Sunday, the living legend that is Snoop Dogg will be headlining the event. He’s sold over 30 million records thanks to his laid-back East Coast hip hop and major hits. Make sure you’ve got your gin and juice ready for his set. Kaiser Chiefs are also playing a headline set, which should be an explosive mix of indie hits both old and new.

After cementing their position as one of he best live bands in Britain, The Vaccines will also be appearing in support of their latest, upcoming album English Graffiti. Baggy Mancunians James will be returning to the festival on Thursday, and with a career spanning thirty years, they’re sure to bring a huge catalogue of sing-a-long anthems with them.

Mercury Award nominee Nick Mulvey, celebrated psych rockers The Horrors, songstress Ella Eyre, political bard and icon Billy Bragg, folk singer-songwriter Lucy Rose and confessional troubadour Emmy the Great will all also be appearing on the main stage. Meanwhile Kodaline, Embrace, legendary club act Soul II Soul, rockers Levellers and TINA pioneer Fuse ODG will be adding some serious diversity to the proceedings.

The Calling Out stage will be headlined by Public Service Broadcasting, whose latest album The Race For Space is bound to sound epic amongst the rolling hills. Poetic rapper Kate Tempest, alt-hip hop man Bipolar Sunshine, local stalwarts Hyde & Beast and Black Honey are among the other acts gracing the stage.

British Sea Power will also be making an appearance, ten years after they first played the festival. They’ll be bringing their now epic canon of beautifully atmospheric rock songs to the Woodlands stage. Plus, it wouldn’t be a Kendal Calling without an appearance from veteran tea drinker Mr Scruff, so he’ll be doing a full set of his offbeat jazzy dance music in the Glow Tent, alongside a host of to-be-announced electronic acts.

Last year the event was one of the first UK festivals to totally sell out and with this year’s super-eclectic mix of talent it’s looking to be yet another bumper year for the beloved festival. Book early if you want to avoid being bitterly disappointed!
