Fancy spending a summer’s weekend basking in some amazing live local music? The Jumpin Hot Club have got you sorted. They’ve teamed up with The Barn At Easington to present their Jamboree Garden Party in Easington between Friday 19th and Sunday 21st June, where you can not only sample some highly authentic music but also a range of great food, craft ales, peruse the quirky stalls and bask in the glow of a massive bona fide campfire. What more could you want?

Well apparently a lot more! The live music schedule is jam packed with a range of acts to keep you thoroughly entertained. The weekend kicks off on Friday teatime with the Side Café Orkestr and teiir Klezmer, while Shipcote and Friends bring their Geordie country swing tunes down to the farm.

On Saturday, the festival welcomes Hat Fitz & Cara, the married twosome who excel in old timey blues with just a touch of Aussie humour thrown into the mix. They’re joined by Frechard, the ex-Parisian waitress, and the Bluebell Cajun Dance Band, who are aiming to bring the barn down with their famous hoedown. Cocos Lovers, a Kent-based septet, bring an African twist to traditional folk music, while local troubadours Fickle Lilly make their debut with their new singer and David Broad brings down his retro acoustic blues trio. Backyard Rhythm Orchestra will be synthesising a brilliant blend of klezmer, cumbia, reggae, afrobeat and hiphop into their set, while singer-songwriter This Little Bird is set to bring a more peaceful tone to the raucous afternoon.

Sunday sees Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra making a rare County Durham appearance, while rising star Dan “Blues Boy” Owen, who has been wowing the blues world, is set to take the festival by storm. The Easington Brass Band will be bringing their tunes to the farm in the morning to wake everyone up (in the best possible way) and We Steal Flyers will show off their harmonies and rootsy music to the crowd.

All weekend, our very own dynamic duo of Mr Fisher and Mr Drayton will be playing records. Mr Fisher will be DJing through the weekend, while if you fancy hanging out in a cave during the garden party, Mr Drayton will be spinning some tunes on his own record player.

And, if you’re not usually the camping sort, then you’ll be pleased to know that there’s six plumbed in toilets. No squabbling in front of who gets to go to the portaloo while they’re still relatively clean then…

Jumpin Hot Club’s Jamboree Garden Party takes place at Thorpe Lea East Farm, Easington from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st June. Tickets are on sale now.
