If anyone could be described as pushing musical boundaries it is Holter, as she bravely dips her toes into a style so abstract it verges on the atonal. On latest release Have You In My Wilderness, her classical and percussive synth fusion invokes the experimental styles of early 20th century composers such as Alban Berg, pushing to the edges of the realms of normality in music.
While Holter’s music may not be the easiest of listens, her approach rewards perseverance, exuding a certain attractiveness that draws the listener in to multiple, swirling layers of melodies moving on top of one another; mixed up, yet each perfect in its cut-glass definition, where above everything a tiny and soft but simple and resolute voice shines brightly.
Her performance is certain to be an atmospheric delight.
