Reliably informed

Back in October last year we spoke with Jukebox Kino main man Ashley Horner about his pioneering way of getting often overlooked cinema into UK homes. Running as a subscription service akin to a record label’s singles club, Jukebox Kino offers members a quarterly movie sent direct to their door (or inbox), and high quality, independent films are their staple; any film that Jukebox Kino champion comes with a stamp of quality.

It’s all well and good watching great films on your laptop or big screen telly, but the cinematic environment is hard to replicate at home. Good job then, that they’ve started a new monthly film club at Newcastle’s Alphabetti Theatre, enabling fellow cinephiles access to amazing independent cult films on a proper sized screen, in the dark and with proper popcorn (we imagine). Join the boys and girls of Jukebox Kino as they goggle over special features, listen to the unique commentary, see storyboards and even talk to directors in Q&A sessions. Add to that an after party with a DJ, and you’ve got yourself a proper good night out.

Jukebox Kino takes place at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle on Saturday 26th September.
