Ashford, Kent-born poet John Fuller is something of a living legend in literary circles. Across his extensive career he’s written practically everything from criticism and essays to children’s books and anthologies, as well as being an editor of numerous collections. Even at the ripe old age of 78 he’s still going strong, producing works at least every few years. There’s not many who can actually say that they’re still producing fresh and unique work after such an extensive career, but Fuller is one of them. In a  very rare and special trip to the region, he’ll be reading from two of his more recent works at the historic Lit & Phil.

Notably, Fuller will be reading works from his latest collection of poetry, The Dice Cup and he’ll also be enchanting us with tales from his children’s book You’re Having Me On, both of which were published just last year. Of course, no audience with Fuller would be complete without some reference to beloved writer W.H. Auden, so expect him to discuss his lifelong fascination with the poet (he wrote A Reder’s Guide To W.H. Auden in 1970 and is still a huge admirer…) If you love your poetry diverse, intelligent and passionate then you should grab the chance to see Fuller by the horns; who knows when he’ll be back again?

John Fuller will appear at the Lit & Phil, Newcastle, on Friday 17th April.
