Reliably informed

Perennial underdogs I Am Kloot rarely fail to deliver either on record or live, so frontman John Bramwell’s return to Newcastle on Friday 18th December for an intimate one-man acoustic show should be a night to remember.

The Cluny’s natural feel promises a rare insight into a man with over thirty years in the business. Be sure he’s got some tales to tell, the Bramwell solo show is as well known for his storytelling, wisecracks and caustic put-downs (he who dares heckle!), as much as it is the beautifully crafted songs.

Long regarded as one of the UK’s premier songwriters, his parent band’s record sales have never quite matched the potential despite being figureheads of the so-called New Acoustic Movement in the late 90s and gaining a Mercury nomination along the way.

I Am Kloot are now six studio albums in with a plethora of more well known friends from Guy Garvey to Christopher Ecclestone, so expect a greatest hits set of sorts as Bramwell, a dab hand at a gritty roman a clef, strips back the familiar sweeping tales of nearlys and not-quites to the acoustic ballads they started life as.

John Bramwell plays The Cluny, Newcastle on Friday 18th December.
