Jimi Hendrix remains one of the most influential figures in rock. His guitar playing is legendary and continues to inspire musicians today, 44 years after his death. Now a new biopic, Jimi: All Is By My Side, aims to document what life was like for Hendrix before the fame and is showing at ARC, Stockton from 28th November until Wednesday 3rd December.

The film follows a young Hendrix as he leaves New York for London, where his music career really began to take off. Alongside a stellar cast, including Imogen Poots and Hayley Atwell, the man himself is played by one of the most recognisable and influential figures of contemporary hip hop: Andre Benjamin, better known as Andre 3000 of OutKast. It’s his performance that forms the central core of the film and that is undoubtedly one of the main attractions of the movie. Even on a visual level, the OutKast man looks the part and sinks into the role of Hendrix with ease.

Jimi: All Is By My Side screens at ARC, Stockton from Friday 28th November until Wednesday 3rd December.
