Reliably informed

September sees some cracking punk gigs taking place at Empty Shop, Durham City’s cultural/musical hub and all round awesome place to hang out. These gigs are presented by prolific DIY promoters and canny bunch Equestrian Collective, who can always be relied upon to satisfy your alt. sound desires. Saturday 10th September sees Leeds queer punk heroes, the excellently named Jesus & His Judgemental Father, headline Empty Shop HQ fresh from their North American tour this summer.

Formed back in 2010, not only is their brand of pop punk infectious and life-affirming (described by themselves as ‘like the 10 Things I Hate About You soundtrack, but way more queer’), but JAHJF tackle important matters including gender stereotypes, mental health and transgender issues head on. Support comes from Brighton-based, cat-loving power-pop punk quartet Just Blankets and Durham’s very own Pale Kids, who are fast becoming known for making a bloody lovely racket. Don’t forget to bring items for the food bank!

Jesus & His Judgemental Father, Just Blankets and Pale Kids play Empty Shop HQ, Durham on Saturday 10th September.
