An extra festive showing of one of the most definitive Christmas classics, It’s A Wonderful Life, comes to Tyneside Cinema from Friday 11th until Thursday 24th December, with a special treat on offer from acoustic jazz-folk collective The Coast Road, taking place on Tuesday 22nd December.

Newcastle wouldn’t be the same at Christmas time without Tyneside Cinema’s festive screenings of Christmas cracker It’s A Wonderful Life. Last year, the independent cinema shifted more than 5,200 tickets for the event, including a boastful three sold out screenings on Christmas Eve.

This year’s tickets are selling faster than ever, with 2,500 tickets sold a full month before the first screening of Frank Capra’s heartwarming and life affirming tale. As well as the usual screenings that span from Friday 11th December all the way to Christmas Eve, Tyneside are treating cinemagoers to an evening of live music and good cheer to get even the biggest of Scrooges thoroughly in the mood for Christmas.

The Night of Good Cheer on Tuesday 22nd contains a live performance from The Coast Road, who promise to serenade the audience with a selection of Christmas favourites before the film begins. With gorgeous original arrangements created by founders Dave Camlin, Bex Mather and Bethany Elen Coyle, we couldn’t have picked a better band ourselves to play in the uber-stylish Classic screen of the Tyneside Cinema.

You can imagine it now, cosying down in the plush red velvet setting of the classic screen, a mulled wine in one hand and a mince pie in the other, misting over while George Bailey realises what life is all about.

The Tyneside Cinema offers a one-of-a-kind Christmas event, which will be hard to forget.

You can see It’s a Wonderful Life from Friday 11th December to Thursday 24th December at Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle.
