Particularly in the past year or so, Teesside has been home to some of the best emerging bands in the region. Varied in genre, unafraid to take risks and often uncompromising, the current Teesside scene is probably healthier than its ever been. To celebrate this, Into Tomorrow are hosting a completely free (yes, free) all-day festival at TS One to showcase some of the best bands in the area right now.

Headlining the event are Avalanche Party, providing ramped-up set of adrenaline-fuelled garage punk from their latest EP that’s sure to be a white-knuckle ride. They’re joined by Weird Shapes’ intelligent blend of alt-rock and electronic that’s thrilling but ambient, soaring but mathy. Unsurprisingly, thrashy, energetic garage rock duo Mouses are also on the bill and will probably be breaking drumsticks and flailing around on stage to their short, sharp bursts of punk (it still amazes me how Stephen Bardgett manages to keep his glasses on through it all).

Earlier in the day, there’s a bevvy of bands beginning to grow an impressive profile. Indie rockers Violet Deep and Idle Violets are playing, as well as Lost State of Dance, Fleckt Pets and Crease, ensuring that this celebration also focuses on the upcoming band as well as some of Teesside’s best established acts.

Into Teesside All Dayer takes place at TS One, Middlesbrough on Sunday 30th August.
