Reliably informed

If you’re a fan of theatre with a kick-ass soundtrack (who isn’t?), then mark your calendar with extra exclamation marks for the upcoming I Hate Alone show from Middle Child on Thursday 26th October at The Peacock in Sunderland. Billed as ‘Thelma & Louise turned up to 11’ expect righteous indignation, with powerful overtones of rebellion and young spirit that will leave a bittersweet taste in your mouth hours after the electrifying excitement has died down. Reaching boiling point and rolling over into brutal violence, this feisty show tells the story of two best friends Chloe and Danielle who are battling their way through worldly injustice, revenge and the importance of friendship. When everything has gone wrong, who is to blame?

Barely taking a breather from their run of summer performances, Middle Child are back and raring to go following their successful hometown production of All We Ever Wanted Was Everything for Hull UK City of Culture 2017, performed at The Welly Club in June, which was followed by a stint at Edinburgh Fringe in August to sold out crowds. This unmissable theatre gig has already won three awards and received multiple five-star reviews, and with original musical scores and bold writing, it’s easy to see why.

Best of all, I Hate Alone is part of the Sunderland Stages Autumn/Winter 2017 programme, which is dedicated to hosting accessible cultural events around the city. Be sure not to miss it!
