Taking it’s name from the word of Scandinavian and Old English origin but almost certainly now a real Geordie fixture, Hyem makes its way to Northern Stage on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October. Written by Philip Correia and directed by Jonny Kelly this play is set to be a real electrifying must-see.

It tells the story of Dummey, Mick an Sylv. Dummey is a lost young lad, struggling to fit in, living on the Fountain Park estate, voted the second worst estate to live in Britain in 1992. Nobody wants him, though that feels like it all takes a change when he meets Mick and Sylv. A runner up in the Papatango prize, Hyem is a play about belonging, about ‘broken’ families and finding somewhere safe in an uncertain world, one which is about to go to war.

Hyem is at Northern Stage, Newcastle on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st October.
