Reliably informed

In this age of Soundcloud and instant streaming, where anyone who’s anyone can post throw their demos at the baying public and hope that something eventually sticks, most bands are content to give their songs just the one go. If it fails and it isn’t so popular, then it doesn’t really matter; you can upload your next mini-masterpiece soon anyway. There’s not many groups out there right now who would actively go back to previous work and ask some tough questions about what would make it better.

Whitley Bay aficionados of all things alt-ambient Humanism have though. Their latest single Hearts might be curiously familiar to anyone who indulged in their most recent LP Porcelain Soul, so if you think you’ve heard that nagging drum line and poppy, infectious chorus before then you’re don’t worry, you’re not going crazy just yet. This time around though, for its official release as a single, the band have gone out of their way to make sure everything surrounding Hearts is just that little bit more perfect. The whole production is crisper, the guitars are a touch more prominent, and Andi Anderson’s warm vocals seem to soar even higher above the track. If you’re going to retread a bit of old ground, then you might as well do it in style like the Humanism bunch.

Humanism officially release Hearts on Saturday 1st August.
