It’s now the second year that we welcome Home Gathering Festival to our summer calendar, and give it the chance to yet again be one of the most talked about events in the region this year. It’s all curated by one of Tyneside’s most revered bands, The Unthanks, and they’ve pulled in some wonderful acts for the festival which takes place at Newcastle’s The Boiler Shop and The Mining Institute on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th September.

Mercury Prize nominee Richard Hawley is a phenomal addition to the bill, the talented singer-songwriter is a well respected name in music as a whole and is something of an indie legend, cementing the festival’s ability to get some of the biggest talents to come and play. He’ll be joined by local favourites in the shape of Hyde & Beast and Richard Dawson, hot swing from Kitty, Daisy and Lewis plus leading lights from the jazz, classical, folk and poetry worlds, which will all reflect the eclectic inspirations of The Unthanks.

The post-industrial, atmospheric Boiler Shop and the historic and beautiful Mining Institute are superb choices as venues, both close to Central Station, so a short trip between two majestic and unique places for utterly captivating music, shows why tickets for this have been selling very quickly, so make sure you snap up yours soon if you want to catch this quite wonderful festival.
