Having survived two decades playing their uniquely infectious American folk tunes, MC Taylor and Scott Hirsch will be landing at Sunderland’s Independent on Saturday 7th February. Despite playing together for over twenty years, the paired only formed Hiss Golden Messenger in 2007, and have gone from strength to strength since the formation, with NME giving 2014’s Lateness Of Dancers a resounding thumbs up.

The band have received acclaim from artists including David Bowie, and their first real commercial success in the form of 2011’s show stopping Poor Moon. Taking the listener on a journey through genuine Southern magic, MC Taylor’s drawling vocals and mesmerising style is guaranteed to hit the sweet spot. A must for fans of styles as diverse as folk, country, bluegrass, jazz and rock. Don’t miss it.
