The People’s Theatre is about to give an acclaimed play it’s debut on Tyneside, and it should be one very much looked forward to. Heroes, from writer Gerald Sibleyras, and adapted by Tom Stoppard won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Comedy so it is immensely exciting that it will be at Newcastle’s The People’s Theatre from Tuesday 3rd until Saturday 7th May.

Set in 1959, it’s the story of three veterans from the First World War dreaming of making their escape from the old soldiers’ home. The English adaptation of the French original earned many a rave review, and captures all of the questioning of human morality, and thirst for escape that the original offered. We follow three veteran soldiers whiling away their time, in a world within a world, but one that is completely enthralling from start to finish.

Heroes is at The People’s Theatre, Newcastle from Tuesday 3rd until Saturday 7th May.
