Our region has a flourishing underground electronic music scene that’s producing some truly engaging and thought-provoking work; Hauskonzert is bringing us the best of this talent as well as acts from further afield to celebrate the more cerebral end of the electronic spectrum.

Headlining the event is Rhian Thompson, known for working with everyone from drummer Chris Corsano to Kuupuu. Described by Joe Murray as evoking the “the sense of dread and alienation,” Thompson creates magical noises that are perfect for late night discos. Joining her is the duo of Rhodri Davies and Mark Sanders. Davies is best known for his deft and mesmerising harp playing, while Sanders is known for playing with a range of artists including Henry Grimes and Derek Bailey; together their performance should be both unique and captivating. Coder and electronic music wizard Shelly Knotts will also be providing challenging loops and feedback, while Callan rounds off the bill with his portable turntables and effects pedals. If you like your electronic music a bit more challenging and with some odd flourishes thrown into the mix then this Hauskonzert won’t let you down.

Hauskonzert 20 takes place at the Old Police House, Gateshead on Thursday 18th June.
