If you haven’t had your fill of nostalgic sounds this summer never fear, the Hardwick Weekender has more than its fair share of heavy hitters on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th August.

The weekend of live music will see nineties stars rub shoulders with…well…other nineties stars, as two massive days of live music fill the Hardwick Hall grounds in County Durham.

Saturday night will see a performance from everyone’s favourite pop ska group, Madness, with support slots from North East funk behemoths Smoove & Turrell, up and coming talent Tom Smith and ‘comedy rock lounge band’ [err… – Acting Ed.], The Lounge Kittens.

Moseley’s finest, Ocean Colour Scene, top the bill for a full day of live music on Sunday with their winsomely nostalgic indie rock; also performing will be ex-Libertine Peter Doherty; alt. indie group The Sherlocks; the eclectic funk-hop stylings of Fun Lovin’ Criminals; aging punk rockers Buzzcocks; soulful songstress Gabrielle; plus the legendary sounds of Soul II Soul and The Brand New Heavies.

Local acts get a decent look in too, with Teesside favourites Cattle & Cane surely providing a festival highlight. Tyneside rockers Lisbon, RnB trio SoShe, songwriter Hayley McKay, innovative funky groovesters Weekend Sun and catchy rockers Echolines and Volunteers also join the bill. Spinning the wheels of steel in between acts are DJs including nineties club legend Brandon Block, house music specialist Danny Rampling and Shindig founder and resident DJ Scott Bradford. Comedy is also up for grabs, with stand-up stints from Otiz Canellioni, Phil Walker and the Mimic Men, with MC duties taken on by Lee Kyle.

Camping is available too, with glamping options if you’re too posh to get your wellies muddy, and there’s the usual host of pop-up restaurants, street entertainers and family fun too.

The Hardwick Weekender takes place at Hardwick Hall, Sedgefield on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th August.
