Tilley’s in Newcastle have always been dedicated to screening some of the finest films Hollywood and beyond have to offer (in between pulling a few good pints). This month they’re going one step beyond and dedicating October to some of the best and most grotesque films imaginable in the run up to Halloween.

The month kicks off with a screening of 1987’s Prince of Darkness, one of John Carpenter’s lesser known (but no less scary) films, on Friday 2nd October. That’s followed a couple of days later by Sam Raimi’s Drag Me To Hell, often hailed as one of the finest horror movies of recent times. Across the month there’s some classic scares in the form of The Omen, The Exorcist and both Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2, as well as some slightly more fantastical fare with the moving Pan’s Labyrinth and Swedish modern classic Let The Right One In getting a screening. Towards the end of the month there’s a triple bill of horror comedy as Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead and everyone’s favourite Christmas film disguised as a Halloween film Gremlins. The month rounds off on the scariest night of the year with a showing of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, guaranteed to leave you with nightmares.

For those looking for a decent pint to accompany their movie-going experience, look no further. Just keep the lights on afterwards.

Tilley’s Halloween films run from Friday 2nd until Saturday 31st October.
