Summer’s here and that means being bothered by insects, seeing shirtless men around the town centre and enjoying street food without your fingers freezing off. To capitalise on the last point Gosforth Civic Centre will be opening their Garden Cafe every Friday from 21st June – 26th July. There you’ll be able to enjoy delicious alfresco grub and an exciting variety of local musicians without paying a penny to get in.

Some of the sun-kissed sounds you can expect to hear at the first event (Friday 21st June) are agnostic acoustic artist Caroline Mary and ballroom blitzers Tango Zapatito. Bringing the banquet will be Grillas who offer handcrafted grilled cheese sandwiches.

Future offerings include the warming alt-folk act Ceitdh Mac with the Mexican heat of Goodtime Tacos on 28th June, Balkan bangers (music not sausages) Side Cafe Orkestar soundtracking tasty delights from Acropolis Authentic Greek Street Food on 5th July and a whole load more each Friday. To find out what eats and beats are on in the future visit the Gosforth Civic Theatre website.

Street Food from 12pm until 7pm. Live Music from 6pm.
