Reliably informed

Everyone likes a good chuckle. They’d be a massive liar if they said that they didn’t. Everyone likes something at a bargain. Again, they’d be telling humungous porkies if they protested otherwise. So it would essentially seem to be a no-brainer to head down to The Stand on Monday 13th April for a swift injection of comedy for the meagre price of just three English pounds.

The monthly night at Tyneside’s stalwart comedy venue is the best place in Newcastle to check out alternative and new material from performers before they explode and make a massive comedic mess all over the place. Although the event has only been running for two months previously, it has managed to attract a diverse range of guests. Last month’s performance saw Jason Cook, local stand-up and creator, co-writer, and star of the recent BBC sitcom Hebburn, take to the stage alongside the star of the award winning Holy Flying Circus Phil Nichol. All of this was orchestrated by the almost diabolical wit that is em cee and regular to The Stand’s stage, Matt Reed.

While the line-up for this performance hasn’t been announced just yet, expect nothing short of zany, bonkers and brilliantly priced comedy and a perfect remedy for any Monday blues you’re experiencing. After all, I’m pretty sure someone once said that laughter was the best remedy for something or other.

Good Grief is at The Stand, Newcastle, on Monday 13th April.
