Reliably informed

Canadian Glenn Wool has an impressive list of pull quotes on his website. Metro have called him “lethally funny”, and The Daily Telegraph enthused over his Edinburgh performances, saying: “Edgy, imaginative, funny and original, Canadian born Wool sets the standards at the fringe.”

So, you know, with this kind of blurb behind him, it’d be nigh on silly not to go and see him and write your own effusive reviews when he appears at The Stand in Newcastle on Monday 25th February.

He’s been championed by the likes of Frankie Boyle and Doug Stanhope and with character references from comedians like these, you know this isn’t going to be some lame-o observational comedy shtick. His latest show is the marvellously titled Wool’s Gold (The Iron Pirate) and is a retrospective and revisiting of some of his most popular routines from the last 25 years. Now in his forties and a new dad, does he still find them funny now he’s grown up? Will you? Promising to also include some navel-gazing for the ‘arty-farty types’, this is the chance to see a comedian at the very peak of his career.
