Reliably informed

A new moving, funny and incredibly honest play comes to ARC in Stockton on Thursday 3rd November, as Getting Better Slowly tells the story of Guillain Barré Syndrome affected Adam Pownall.

Adam woke up one day to find his body was slowly shutting down, unable to walk, talk or blink and with nobody knowing why, the full paralysis that happened within days is the dark point this tale takes off from. His illness is portrayed through new writing, sound and movement and Adam’s journey from diagnosis to rehabilitation and beyond – including months re-learning how to walk and talk – leads to an audience having to question how they would deal with the same. It’s an inspiring story that ARC has done brilliantly in giving a stage to.
