Durham’s Gala Theatre is crammed full of great comedy this month. The Comedy Store will be paying their usual visit on Sunday 1st with their hand-picked ensemble of talented jesters from across the circuit, with Chris TavnerLuke Benson and Nicola Mantalios-Lovett hoping to impress with their routines. There’ll also be plenty of other established acts primed and ready to make you choke on your drinks a little bit, including Spaniel-haired funnyman Paul Foot on Friday 6th. There’s no doubt be unleashing his eccentric brand of surreal waffling in that peculiar strut. Simon Amstell is also set to deliver a critically acclaimed show on Saturday 19th in his celeb harassing demeanour that’s sorely missed on Never Mind The Buzzcocks. Apparently he’ll have most of life covered in his set, which will include explorations into “freedom, joy, love, death, adventure, art, peace, sex, regret, success, eating, suffering, dreaming, healing, forgiving and more”. Lucy Beaumont will be making an appearance with her offbeat show on Friday 20th but if none of that sounds like it’ll bring forth a cackling fit, there’ll also be an evening of sketch comedy by some of the best student comics in the country in The Durham Revue on Thursday 26th.
