With their only previous Newcastle outing being at The Cluny 2 in 2012, there has been a monumental shift since the band last graced the region with its presence. Following their now hallowed appearance on Letterman and the release of Singles, their first album for 4AD, nothing has been the same since. As their popularity has continued to exponentially soar, predominantly due to the incredible onstage antics of singer-come-entertainer Samuel T Herring, they finally return to Newcastle’s O2 Academy on Thursday 10th September as part of their relentless touring schedule which has seen them cover all four corners of the globe in the past eighteen months.

As far as frontmen go, Herring has established himself as one of the finest, with his exquisite and eccentric dance moves mesmerising audiences the world over. Similarly the success of Singles has helped to compound this popularity, with a plethora of awesome tracks including the synth-led glory of Seasons (Waiting For You) and the pensive A Dream Of Me And You. It is a show not to be missed, plus there’s an excellent supporting cast featuring local songstress-turned-wild-rocker Du Blonde and erratic Baltimore noise rockers Dope Body completing a must-see line-up.

Future Islands, Dope Body and Du Blonde play O2 Academy, Newcastle on Thursday 10th September.
