As part of their tenth birthday carnival celebrations, The Sage have been hosting a variety of very special events in their hallowed halls. As part of these special events, they’re bringing two of the North East’s most talented musicians to play their collaborative album Frozen by Sight on Saturday 20th December: Paul Smith and Peter Brewis.

Based on Smith’s travel writing and Brewis’ chamber-band arrangements, the collaboration was first started as part of a commission for last year’s Festival of the North East but developed into a full-blown album that has gained extensive critical acclaim. This is one of the first live performances of the album, in which the pair are joined by a full band which includes Brewis’ brother David, and a string quartet.

The duo are supported by Emily Portman, who won the title of Best Original Song at last year’s BBC Radio Two Folk Awards.

Frozen by Sight takes place at The Sage on Saturday 20th December.
