Friday nights in Newcastle are about to have something truly unique to tempt you off the sofa and out the house, and something that’s a nice change from an evening down the pub. Friday Night Life launches at Life Science Centre on Friday 24th June and offers visitors the chance to take in all Life has to offer, with adults-only. late-night science fun.

Life Science Centre throws open its doors after hours, and you can enjoy real experiments, one-off planetarium shows and speakers, a DJ, (and of course, a bar!). These special events will now be running throughout the year, and the very first one should start them off with a real bang, as a truly original way to enjoy a Friday night out. The first Friday Night Life is dedicated to celebrating British astronaut Tim Peake as he returns to Earth following six months on the International Space Station. Guests can enjoy an out-of- this-world evening viewing footage from Tim’s launch, landing, and time on the ISS in the spectacular surroundings of Life’s planetarium. Visitors can also get in touch with their inner Einstein by donning a lab coat and conducting real science experiments in the Experiment Zone before heading into the Brain Zone, which features a whole range of psychological experiments. There will also be a performance from Frozen Music Collective, who will be playing music based on data collected from the human brain. There aren’t going to be many better ways to see in the weekend.
