Reliably informed

As one of Scotland’s best loved comedians, Fred MacAulay has become one of the most recognisable voices on the radio across the border. For a solid eighteen years, he presented his programme MacAulay and Co on BBC Scotland to thousands of listeners. Now, though, he’s thrown in the broadcasting towel and gone back to his first love: comedy. In his first show in nearly two decades, the Scot will be touring the country with his new stand up show.

MacAulay’s setting himself up as an affable performer with a lot to say on his own life as well as themes such as politics, sport and the environment. Drawing on his two decades as a broadcaster should give MacAulay plenty of things to talk about, and hopefully more than a few belly laughs thrown in for good measure. If you ever had the slightest of desire to heckle him though, just be forewarned: MacAulay’s first experience of stand up comedy came at Bar Point in the so-called “West End” of Paisley. Enough said.

Fred MacAulay comes to The Stand, Newcastle on Tuesday 27th October.
