Sunderland’s premier indie pop quintet are heading back out on tour, accompanying iconic Mancunians The Charlatans during their massive December trek across the country. It’s another chance to see the band play songs from their latest – and possibly best – album, Decency, and break open a few old gems too during what’s always an exuberant and fun performance.

The support slot with Tim Burgess et al comes as no surprise, since the two bands have developed a strong bond in recent times. The Charlatans played at Split Festival (curated by former Futureheads man and Heartstrings guitarist Ross Millard) and at the Sunderland group’s own Pop Recs.

The five piece are continuing the fight to revive their immensely popular record shop-come-venue Pop Recs, so the series of large shows will be rounding off an eventful year for the band.  Makes you wonder what 2016 will bring.

Frankie & The Heartstrings support The Charlatans at the O2 Academy, Newcastle on Thursday 17th December.
