To mark the bicentenary of the creation of Frankenstein, Blackeyed Theatre bring a brand new stage adaptation of Mary Shelley’s gothic horror classic out on a UK tour, which takes in Gala Theatre, Durham on Monday 17th and Tuesday 18th October.
John Ginman’s adaptation follows the original tale closely, as we see an obsessive Victor Frankenstein in pursuit of nature’s secret, the elixir of life itself. He creates something more though, something he’s not prepared for, and a gripping story of life and death follows, taking him to the ends of the Earth and beyond. With a fusion of storytelling, live music, puppetry and stunning theatricality this bold piece brings to life one of the all time great pieces of literature, and a narrative that will stay long in your memory. With a cast of acclaimed actors including Ben Warwick as Victor Frankenstein, Max Gallagher as Henry Clerval and Lara Cowin as Elizabeth Lavenza, the ensemble cast leaves you in safe hands as the story becomes more and more unsteady, though constantly gripping.
