Reliably informed

A dark and absurd comedy makes it’s way to Newcastle for a run of shows at Alphabetti Theatre in May. The story of a couple trying to raise an orangutan is hugely original, and should make for some breathtakingly fun shows from Monday 2nd to Saturday 7th May.

The surreal comedy from writer Mike Yeaman follows the tale of Bev and Keith, who get a surprise visitor when the orphaned orangutan they sponsor turns up on the doorstep. Dealing with a delinquent teenager is one thing, but the couple have a whole realm of other problems from their hairy house-guest. Described as sitcom meets Kafka, it’s a brilliantly original piece of theatre which may have found a perfect home for a week in Alphabetti Theatre and reach a wider audience who haven’t yet sampled the odd delights on offer in Frank Sumatra.

Frank Sumatra is at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle from Monday 2nd to Saturday 7th May.
