Reliably informed

Across the world, people and organisations come together to find ways to help meet the needs of both themselves and their community in a way that doesn’t harm the planet. The North East is no stranger to this solidarity economy and NewBridge Project and the Solidarity Economy Association have been working in collaboration in an attempt to raise the visibility of the projects, initiatives and individuals across the region who are already offering these alternative approaches and helping the world to become more sustainable in the process. They’ve been busy gathering information from grassroots organisations, informal meetings, neighbourhood projects, local communities and more about what they do, using their findings to inform a new map and directory.

With an aim to help strengthen the endeavours of these projects, the map itself will be on display for anyone to view as part of For Solidarity, which runs at the NewBridge Project from Tuesday 1st October-Friday 1st November, and will offer a glimpse of the work underway all across the region to help meet people’s needs. As well as presenting this collaborative work, For Solidarity will also be exhibiting new, collaborative artist commissions and hosting a series of engaging events that further explore their unique work and reflect on the project’s core themes. Show some solidarity and see this intriguing collaborative work while you can.

For Solidarity is at NewBridge Project, Gateshead from Tuesday 1st October-Friday 1st November
