Reliably informed

The North East’s poetry scene has been immensely strong for a number of years, and as it grows, it spreads, and Durham is now really pushing forward with a vibrant collection of poets; a number of which will be showcasing their work at Empty Shop on Wednesday 4th May.

It’s a chance to hear the best Durham-residing poets read their work, and there’s also incredible music to be heard too. Jasmine Watkiss will be performing, and there will be readings from Sarah Fletcher, Jasmine Simms, Eiffel Gao, Emily Van Houten, and Alex Isaacs. With special guest poets Paul Batchelor, Frances Leviston and Vidyan Ravinthiran. A way with words is a real gift, so watching people utterly beguile in the way the twist and turn language is something the Durham culture scene can be very proud of, and this is a great opportunity to see some of the very best around.

For Kicks is at Empty Shop in Durham on Wednesday 4th May.
