Reliably informed

Flo and Joan are Alive On Stage! At first glance, it’s an odd title for a live comedy show, but when you take into account the violent death threats the pair received after they were the stars of a Nationwide Building Society advert, it comes as a bit of a relief that they’re still with us.

Don’t hold the advert against them though, there’s plenty that think the critically acclaimed sisters are pretty damn ace, as they sold out a run of their 2017 show The Kindness of Stranglers (perhaps they’ve got a thing for morbid show titles?!). Nicola and Rosie Dempsey bring a new set of darkly witty and impeccably whip-smart songs on their new tour, which calls in at Newcastle’s Stand Comedy Club on Sunday 20th January.

So what exactly should we expect from this very much alive duo? Well, a set that picks apart the double-standards and perils of being a woman in the world today, for one. Tackling toxic masculinity and celebrating womanhood, they’ll also be unravelling (in the funniest, most melodic manner you can possibly imagine) perceptions of ‘ladylike’ behaviour, as well as critiquing relationships, drinking, inexplicably altering products to appeal more to women and, of course, sex robots. Anything is fair game to this pair, who are equally as likely to make you think as they are to make you laugh and tap your toes.
