Providing an alternative to “sneering hipsters and pretentious posers”, Teesside’s punk upstarts Fleckt Pets release their new EP this month, tellingly titled This Is Our Punk.

“We draw influence from alternative working class musical movements like hip-hop, soul, garage, punk, ska, indie and every bit of music we’ve ever loved to give you our punk.” They comment.

The EP’s short but sweet: Snap Chat’s dynamic stabbing guitars and chanted refrains is a furious assault; Hold On’s frantic and wired; while Religion takes the pace down a little, with lovely bassy melody and a chorus that borders on anthemic (in their own disparate way); and Now’s Your Chance is a short sharp shock to the system. The EP, complete with unique handmade artwork, will be available to buy at their appearance at Stockton Calling on Saturday 4th April.

Offering an intelligent and refreshingly honest approach to their music, Fleckt Pets’ sound is uncompromisingly direct and wholly their own.

Fleckt Pets play Stockton Calling at The Georgian Theatre on Saturday 4th April.
