When not remarkably busy as the mastermind of garage rock godheads Oh Sees (or Thee Oh Sees, or OCS, or whatever other variation has been decided on by the time this goes to press), John Dwyer is also part of the team behind Castle Face Records.

Specialising – unsurprisingly – in all manner of fuzzy rock, dissonant post-punk and freaked-out psych, Castle Face Records has helped bring the likes of Ty Segall, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and DUDS to international attention. Their latest name to watch out for is the formidable, stripped-down trio Flat Worms, whose debut album is a short, sharp blast of anxious, feedback-strewn rock ’n’ roll which takes cues from The Wipers and early Jesus & Mary Chain.

Having already delighted on their debut Newcastle appearance in October last year, it’s no surprise that The Cluny have moved quickly to secure their return to the venue on Wednesday 6th June. Joining them on the night are some very special guests who definitely wouldn’t be caught wearing mustard or shades indoors, and who definitely aren’t just sticking to a pretence of being unbilled special guests due to other contractual obligations a few days later. No, that’d just be a load of shite (hawk).
