Offering ideas on the ideal way to save a few quid and benefit the environment, the Festival of Thrift returns to Lingfield Point in Darlington on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September.

The UK’s only national celebration of sustainable living, the award-winning festival brings together practitioners from across the country to provide thought-provoking art and entertainment, workshops, stalls and all manner of up-cycled, recycled and smart second hand goods.

Proving that it’s fun to be thrifty, the weekend will be packed full of informative experiences, from live action mechanical-musical-puppet-led show Compost Mentis and interactive sculpture and treasure-trove Darly; to folk and hip-hop infused performances from Folk Dance Remixed and Urban Explorers’ parkour, dance and slapstick comedy street-theatre, there’s something for all the family to enjoy. Add to that dhol drum performances, the Bomberdrone ‘wall of death’ bicycle skills display, mass 1920s themed dance workshop Lah-Di-Dah and educational workshops that will teach you how to do everything from make your own jam to build your own pizza oven, plus food and drink stalls aplenty and over a hundred stalls selling up-cycled, recycled, vintage and pre-loved goodies.
