Reliably informed

The Festival of the Spoken Nerd team loves a bit of gloriously geeky wordplay – as is evident from their promise to ‘feed your brain, tickle your ribs and light your Bunsen burner’ with their latest show. The science comedy trio are midway through their second UK tour and are dropping by Tyneside for a performance at Northern Stage on Friday 30th October.

Newcastle has, in recent years, become a hub for all things technological – Life Science Centre opened shortly after the turn of the millennium and annually plays host to Maker Faire, the world’s largest show and tell. The Spoken Nerd trio – made up of stand-up mathematician Matt Parker (Discovery Channel’s You Have Been Warned), experiments maestro Steve Mould (ITV1’s I Never Knew That About Britain) and geek songstress Helen Arney (BBC2’s Coast) – should feel right at home.

Since their last smash hit tour, the equally puntastic Full Frontal Nerdity, they have been electrifying audience far and wide (sometimes literally…), including making their stateside debut at the prestigious The Amaz!ng Meeting show in Las Vegas. They’ve also materialised across TV and radio, at the Hammersmith Apollo and in their own peer-reviewed DVD recorded at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre.

New show Just for Graphs is packed, as was the last, with explosive live experiments and, we are reliably informed, is statistically very likely to make you chuckle. It looks set to be off the chart.

Festival of the Spoken Nerd is at Newcastle’s Northern Stage on Friday 30th October.
