Reliably informed

Currently studying for a PhD in Fine Art at Newcastle University, Chinese artist and illustrator Fang Qi presents a new installation at Abject Gallery which looks at the ambiguousness of the evolution of life.

The Reversible Future combines video projection mapping technology with traditional drawings and sculptures to create parallels between technology, the human body and art. Exploring questions which look at the possibility of ‘upgrading’ or ‘downgrading’ the body and mind and aspects of control and change, Qi’s fascinating video-based installation will provide much food for thought.

Qi’s practices centre around notions of the self and identity, her work encompasses a wide range of mediums including drawing, illustration, video, animation, installation and creative writing. The exhibition is houses in Breeze Creative’s Abject Gallery, a contemporary art gallery who aim to present a range of national and international emerging artists.

Fang Qi’s The Reversible Future is at Abject Gallery, Newcastle from Wednesday 20th July until Saturday 13th August.
