If you were blessed enough to witness their performance on Confusion Is Next’s stage at last year’s NARC. Fest, then you’re already lucky enough to know how visceral a force of nature Falls are.
The band’s sludgy, scuzzy post-garage rock is so ferocious they can hardly contain themselves; indeed, they prefer to play shows amongst the crowd instead of containing their energy and sticking to the stage, which should make their gig at Newcastle’s intimate Head of Steam on Tuesday 15th November a sweaty treat. They have a wicked sense of humour that makes their music all the more relentlessly fun; music that is unafraid to jump between genres with reckless abandon. The band consider themselves to be “fuck-rock, gash-pop, and sasscore”, and what beautiful fucky-gashy-sassy noise it is.
Combining the ravenous, brutal assault of Falls with the hunting tactics of Mogwai and Chavez, support act We Are Carnivores craft taut and tense atmospheres in gleefully unique ways, and they’re a brilliant burst of discordant, kinetic energy. Local support is provided by snotty Geordie punks PARKS, whose grungy riffs contribute to an awesome live performance.
