E’spaniel have an exciting 2017 ahead, with a debut album and tour to come, but the synth pop trio aren’t leaving this year without making sure you’ve got massively excited about what’s to come. They released debut single No Common Sense earlier this year, and follow that up with the double release of Just Another Day and Knots on Monday 7th November.
Their indie pop has an uplifting tilt, though with influences like The Cure (evident a lot on Knots) and New Order (evident more so on Just Another Day) clearly on show, there’s real depth to both songs. With their forthcoming long player having been mixed and produced by Steve Whitfield, who is well-known for his work with The Cure, this all makes perfect sense. The drizzly days and nights November has to offer will be swept away with both of these gloriously shimmering tracks. E’spaniel are a rather impressive band, pulsating bass lines, jangling guitars and always heavy on the hooks, if this double offering is a sign of what’s to come, then what follows should be an album that’s a satisfying listen, filled with retro intelligent pop fun.
