Well, look here. Endless Window is all growed up and putting on its twentieth – yes, twentieth-  regular event this month. Seems like only yesterday the whole thing was just one not-quite-a-kid with a not-quite-that-crazy dream. Now Endless Window is still one not-kid, just with a crazy overdraft and a thousand-yard stare.

For this particular red-letter day, he’s pulled out all the stops for a really splendid bill. Headlining are Year Of Birds, Teeside’s finest post-punk angle-grinders, who have just released their brilliant White Death to Power Alan album, out now on Oddbox Records. Beefed up to a full four-piece force with the addition of Ned Hogan on bass, they’re really on a roll right now. You also get a chance to see relative newcomers Luxury, who have been compared to Iceage and The Wipers, which surely can’t be a bad thing, and The Noise and the Naïve, a power pop duo who had the good sense to form at a Shonen Knife gig and will be making their live debut here. Alongside all this, the Endless Window DJ himself will be playing all the sounds you need to hear after the band until you, he and everyone else gets kicked out. All that, and for less than the cost of a pint in most places.

Endless Window is at Cumberland Arms, Newcastle on Saturday 29th April.
