Reliably informed

At the start of November, with the sudden deluge of adverts twisting your arm to spend, you’d be forgiven for approaching the festive season with trepidation and weary cynicism. Happily, promoters Hapless Museum Worker have the perfect antidote to this, with a Yuletide charity show raising money for a very good cause.

On Friday 15th December Ontarian alt-country three piece Elliott Brood will grace The Cumberland Arms’ stage in Newcastle. The band’s unique approach to roots music (they’ve been described as everything from ‘blackgrass’ to ‘death country’) has been the driving force behind a prolific and critically acclaimed output. Their new album, Ghost Gardens, was released in September to considerable critical acclaim.

Support comes from future national treasure Nev Clay and Aukestra, a rare and unique meeting of creative minds, who give an insight into their style: “Some of us are autistic, some of us aren’t. That doesn’t matter. What we are is a band. A professional act with a wealth of diverse talents; we want to be recognised for what we can do, not what we can’t.” All proceeds go to the Percy Hedley Foundation.
