Long Play Cafe haven’t been putting on shows long, but they’ve got another splendid line-up to come on Wednesday 9th March, as they collect together the catchy retro rock and roll of El Cid to follow the quirky folky pop of Small Feet Little Toes.

El Cid’s rock and roll swing is very much a sound which was so popular in the 1960s, but given a modern twist. Sumptuously catchy vocals and harmonies stand out, cruising over jangly guitars and a smooth as silk rhythm section. The songs still have a modern indie influence at times, but they have some fantastic tracks to take you back to another time and another place. It’s an eclectic bill, as Small Feet Little Toes has a unique, fascinating and occasionally experimental approach to songwriting, she has a delicate yet strikingly powerful voice that means it’s always utterly enchanting. With the venue a perfectly quaint space to backdrop two artists of immense talent, it’s a showcase of some truly wonderful music.
