The successful EAT! Festival returns for its much anticipated winter edition, EAT! IN, which will take place from Friday 20th February until Sunday 1st March. Since establishing in 2007, EAT! has celebrated adventures in eating and encouraged unique events all over Newcastle.

Kicking off the week with the Future Chef event, which looks at what we will be eating in 20 years’ time and who will be cooking it (Friday 20th, The Core, Science Central), the ever-popular Secret Paladares will be back, offering selection of secret events with traditional cooking from a range of international hosts including Cuban, Bosnian, Jewish, Scottish and of course, Geordie cuisine all being featured (Saturday 21st-Thursday 26th, secret locations).

Prepare for an evening of decadence and extravagant escapism at Gatsby’s mansion in Long Island (or The Lit & Phil, as it’s commonly known), as you sip bootleg cocktails, listen to live jazz and enjoy a unique, drink-a-long screening of the Baz Luhrmann classic (Friday 27th & Saturday 28th). Or why not enliven your tastebuds with samples of over 70 wines from the region’s best independent wine merchants at Newcastle Wine Fair (Sunday 1st March, Assembly Rooms). If you feel there’s room for further indulgence, the Medieval Lenten Feast, which takes place in the magnificently gothic setting of St Nicholas Cathedral, will satisfy your desire for warming comfort food and rid any remains of the winter blues (Sunday 1st March).

There’s much more besides, in a programme that’s packed with scrumptious ideas.

EAT! In runs from Friday 20th February until Sunday 1st March at various locations across Newcastle and Gateshead.
