Back in January, the creative organisations of Pilgrim Street, Market Street and New Bridge Street West in Newcastle joined forces to host a block party that was attended by over 1,200 people. The event was so successful that on Friday 7th October they’re doing it all over again, completely jam packing art, music and theatre into one night and just a couple of streets.
One of the highlights of the night will be the UK’s first exhibition of surrealist portraiture artist Mao Kai’s work at Abject Studios. If you need even more of an art fix after that, then B&D Studios hosts a new work by sculptor Dylan Shields, Fantastical, which explores the relationship between traditional painting and contemporary sculpting materials. Meanwhile, Bacon Knees And Sausage Fingers at Alphabetti Theatre is a meaty tale of two social outsiders and their oddball friendship. If you’re in the market for a trinket or two, a host of artists will be offering wares from their studios, wardrobes and collections in an Artist’s Boot Sale at Globe Gallery. The best part? It’s all completely free!
