Annual literature festival the Durham Book Festival returns this year, with tickets on sale from today for the mammoth event that takes place between Friday 5th and Sunday 14th October. The North East’s largest literary event welcomes the likes of Sarah Waters, David Olusoga, Sarah Perry, Pat Barker, Carol Ann Duffy and Alan Johnson.

Talented writers, artists and creatives are lined up for audiences across County Durham, with a mix of readings, performances and talks. Little Read is also something new for this year, seeing the distribution of picture books throughout the county to produce an innovative family story adapted from the picture book Izzy Gizmo, written by Pip Jones and illustrated by Newcastle-based illustrator Sara Ogilvie.

Commissioned by Durham County Council and produced by New Writing North, with funding from Durham University and Arts Council England, the ten-day festival is packed with events, and you can find a full list here.
